Wacky Hair Bingo
Staff and patients across women’s services took part in games of ‘Wacky Hair bingo’ to raise funds in aid of Red Nose Day 2021. This year Comic Relief donations will help tackle import issues such as homelessness, hunger, domestic abuse, and mental health issues, all of which have been further impacted by the covid 19 pandemic. Comic relief also aims to help those most affected by the pandemic

Patients from each ward played games of bingo in their pyjamas, sporting wacky hair styles and enthusiasm to take part in raising funds. Through their donations, they raised a total of £80.50 for Comic Relief.

Patients were motivated to take part in the event, coming together and enjoying the day. Patient feedback was positive, “Give the staff members a job a Gala Bingo!” was the response from some of our patients who took part. Positive feedback was given across the wards and patients expressed their enjoyment of taking part and doing their hair for the event allowed them to feel a sense of occasion.

It was great to involve patients who are currently in long term segregation, who joined the rest of their peers on the ward and gave positive feedback, feeling uplifted following involvement the event. Patients also stated they would like to engage in more events like this. Both Women’s Service’s staff & TED DRC staff met the event with energy, enthusiasm and provided support to the patients. Despite covid restrictions patients and staff took part and raised awareness for Comic Relief 2021 doing something funny for money!
