Nottinghamshire Healthcare undertook a uniform review in 2020-2021, volunteers were also included within this review. As of April 2021, there has been a new staff uniform available for order by staff in the Trust who are required to wear a uniform as part of their role. The new uniforms features the NHS branding and reflects roles rather than teams. Many volunteers now, as part of their role will be requested to also wear a uniform whilst they’re volunteering. Whether a volunteer will be asked to wear a uniform will depend on the role they are doing and what the Division they are volunteering in decides.
What does the uniform look like?
Volunteers have been assigned the colour yellow in the Trust-wide uniform review. It is a yellow polo shirt. Volunteers will still be issued the pink volunteer lanyard and ID as usual.
What volunteer roles will need uniforms?
Whether a volunteer will be asked to wear a uniform will depend on the role they are doing and what the Division they are volunteering in decides. As a general rule of thumb, if the role is patient-facing, volunteers will be asked to wear a uniform. You will be informed if you need a uniform for your voluntary role. If you do a few roles within our Trust, you only need to wear the uniform for the role it is required for. For example. someone who volunteers as a social media volunteer and as a ward support volunteer, will only need to wear their uniform when they’re volunteering on the ward.
