As part of Nottingham’s Mental Health Awareness weeks, we held a coffee & cake afternoon at the Involvement Centre in Nottingham.
A few of our volunteers popped along for a small buffet, tea, coffee, cakes and a chat.
It also happened to fall on World Mental Health Day – which is good as we know that taking time to connect with others is good for your own mental wellbeing.
We asked our volunteers about how volunteering helped their mental health…
…how volunteering makes them feel…
…and what advice they’d give to other volunteers.
These submissions are all going to be written up and added to the information packs we give our new volunteers.
We also had a quiz with a mental health theme (and a few general knowledge questions thrown in) with a £10 gift card prize up for grabs.
We used this opportunity to get feedback on posters volunteers have been helping design for our team too.
As well as information on mental health and keeping yourself well from the NHS Moodzone website and Mind.
Thanks to everyone who popped in. It was a lovely afternoon and it was wonderful hearing the hubbub and laughter all around the Centre.
Fab photos. Wish I could have been with you. I was flying the flag for NottsHc at a brilliant Care Opinion event in London on World MH Day about inclusive Feedback in Mental Health and IDD Services 👍
