The Nottinghamshire Personality Disorder and Development Network has changed its name
After careful consideration the service has changed its name to Nottinghamshire Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) Service – working with Complex Personality Disorder.
The team felt that a shift towards a service title clearly emphasising what the service does would be helpful. The move away from personality disorder in the title was felt to be more helpful in terms of engaging people in the service as people often struggle with the personality disorder label. The title also suggested that the service worked with all personality disorder types which is not the case. We have kept personality disorder in the title as a tag line in order to keep the personality disorder specialism of the service visible.
The new title now emphasises our use of the MBT approach. This is clinically researched to be most effective treatment for personality disorder, namely borderline and anti-social personality disorder/traits.
