Keep Learning, Volunteer!

Continuing on with the Five Steps to Mental Wellbeing. Missed Step 1? Start here and see how volunteering helps connect you with others.

Step 3: Keep Learning.

Our volunteers have access to a huge range of training. Every volunteer is given training specific to the role they do, whether it be standard Information Governance or Safeguarding or more specialised Forensic or Befriender training. They have access to our Trust Learning and Organisational Development Department too and can attend training courses open to staff. We have volunteers in our Recovery Colleges and volunteers who help co-produce and create new courses for others.

If this wasn’t enough, we also try and make the learning two-way, as there’s so much we can learn from our volunteers and carers. Some volunteers use their lived-experience at staff training and we try to have at least one volunteer or carer attend every induction day for new staff to help give a presentation on Involvement.

Interested in getting involved and finding out more? Give us a call to find out what volunteering opportunities we have available: 0800 052 1415 or email us: volunteering@nottshc.nhs.uk

Still need more convincing? There’s still two more steps to go, follow this blog to read about them.
