Patient Experience Volunteer – Rampton Hospital

Role Purpose

As a Patient & Carer Feedback Support Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in helping Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust gather valuable insights and feedback from our stakeholders. Your contributions will directly impact our continuous improvement efforts, allowing us to enhance our services, programs, and overall performance. This volunteer position offers an excellent opportunity to develop communication skills, gain experience in data collection and analysis, and make a positive impact within the community.

Outline of Volunteer Role:

  • You will provide support to the Day Centre Manager and staff to engage with patients in a welcoming and non-judgemental environment and aid the facilitation of the collection of feedback during Care Stream Meetings Sessions
  • To attend feedback sessions, promotions, feedback projects and events across the hospital and to speak with patients, families and carers about their experiences and to collect their feedback using devices (such as Purple MDM computer/tablets) or paper forms.
  • Volunteers would take notes during the conversations, and either submit the story online at the time or return to an Involvement and Volunteering Hub to submit the stories.

  • Learning Disability Services – Rampton Hospital
  • Personality Disorder – Rampton Hospital

*Please note that Rampton Hospital is in a remote location and therefore you will need to be able to get to/from the hospital.  We can help with out-of-pocket travel expenses with mileage up to a 30-mile round trip.  If you would need to travel by any other means, please speak to us before applying to discuss this further.

Time commitment: 

  • Learning Disability Service – You will meet with patients, in person face to face, every fortnight at the Patient Forum meeting on a Monday at 5.30pm – 7.30pm to talk to patients and collect feedback, and then attend a Divisional meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month between 9.30 – 12.30pm (in person or via MS Teams).
  • Personality Disorder Service – You will meet with patients, in person, face to face, on the last Wednesday of each month at the Patient Forum meeting 9.15am – 12.30pm to talk to patients and collect feedback, and then attend a Divisional meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month between 9.30 – 12.30pm.  All of these take place at Rampton Hospital.

  • You will be invited to attend a one-day training event specific to this role
  • You will receive support from your peers, particularly during collective support sessions for PCX volunteers.

  • Commit to a minimum of six months from start date.
