How does volunteering make you feel?

During World Mental Health Awareness Day, which fell in Nottingham’s Mental Health Awareness Weeks this year, we held a coffee and cake afternoon at our Involvement Centre at Duncan Macmillan House. See our previous post on how volunteering helps mental health.

As part of the afternoon, we asked our volunteers how volunteering makes them feel. We plan on adding these to our Volunteers Handbook and new volunteer information packs.

How does volunteering make you feel?

“Useful. Humble. Happy”

“Very rewarding”

“Feel helpful, peaceful, blessed”

“Rewarded”

“Revives & restores my faith in humanity, seeing the caring nature of volunteers”

“Cheerful. Content. Thankful”

“It makes you feel worthwhile. Also you meet others in similar situations”
