Felt Crafts at Bassetlaw

Marie plans to make felt pin cushions with patients on B1 Ward in Bassetlaw Hospital. She has created the templates herself and will be giving patients a choice of what they want to make.

Hopefully the patients will enjoy making them. I enjoy craft activities with the patients as it’s good rehabilitation during their stay. I have volunteered on B2 for a short time as well, but I now volunteer on B1. I also volunteer in another area of the hospital.

B1 Ward is an Assessment Ward for mental health concerns providing care for patients over the age of 65. Patients will usually be assessed over a period of a few weeks then decisions are made jointly with carers and other agencies about future care. B2 Ward is a mixed sex acute mental health ward for individuals aged between 18-65 who are in crisis or requiring assessment and treatment for a mental health disorder/concern.

If you’re interested in getting involved in volunteering like Marie, please get in touch.

  1. A big thank you to Marie and her efforts. I think these look really bright and colourful. I hope the patients enjoy making them and find it therapeutic.
