Burne Ward came up with the idea to create a COVID capsule to encapsulate memories and projects completed during the pandemic. The capsule contains individual patient memoirs, stories about the impact of COVID, news articles and artwork created during this time.

The idea is for this capsule to be displayed in the new Mental Health Day Unit, The Phoenix Centre as a recognition and reflection of what life has been like for patients during the pandemic.

This has sparked other wards into doing similar projects with Carlisle and Canterbury also collating ideas and considering possibility of burying their capsule in the C court garden to be unearthed in the future.
