Volunteering with Nottinghamshire Healthcare

Our team supports volunteers across Nottinghamshire Healthcare in a wide variety of roles. Volunteers are involved in placements in services and improvement projects. They make a big difference in the lives of service users, carers and staff.

Here, on our volunteering pages, we have resources for our current volunteers, how to access support, information for staff and an online calendar that lists a few meetings, training and projects we have coming up in our two Involvement Centres. This list is by no means exhaustive and is just a small snapshot of the wide range of activities and projects we’re involved with.

If you’re interested in volunteering, take a look at our current volunteering opportunities below, how to apply and our volunteer blogs to get an idea of the range of roles we have available.

At the present time, we are not recruiting new volunteers into our services. As a result of the pandemic, many of our existing volunteer placements were affected. We are in the process of reopening the Involvement Centres and supporting existing volunteers back into their placements. We are continuing to work with our volunteers and services to adapt roles to allow continued volunteering and support to patients, carers and staff.

We hope to advertise for new volunteer opportunities soon. Please check our website regularly for updates and information on how to apply.

In the meantime, if you would like to volunteer within your community there are alternative options within Nottinghamshire.

NHS Volunteer Responders

If you would like to volunteer to help the NHS and your local community at this time, the NHS Volunteer Responders are being co-ordinated by the Royal Voluntary Service using the “GoodSam” app.

Nottinghamshire Country Council

The County Council are also keen for volunteers to help support their local
communities. You can sign up to their database using a form or telephone helpline to register how you’re able to help. If you’re not able to leave the house at the moment, but still want to volunteer, they’re keen to set up a telephone befriending service with people who may be able to signpost to support or to help encourage physical wellbeing.

Volunteer groups are offering their services to help people in their local area with things like access to food or medicine, dog walking, transport, and physical and social wellbeing. Take a look at their new support hub to find what help is being offered in your area and get the support you need.

If you’re a current volunteer with Nottinghamshire Healthcare and also want to volunteer with Nottinghamshire County Council, let them know as we may be able to verify your DBS, reference checks and training with them.

Nottingham City Council

Nottingham City Council has a dedicated Coronavirus section on their website with information for city residents to access help. They are signposting potential volunteers to Nottingham Community & Voluntary Service.
