This blog has been written by Trevor Clower. He has been a volunteer with Nottinghamshire Healthcare for over a decade. Many staff may remember him speaking about his role as a carer at their Trust induction days. The Involvement, Experience & Volunteering Team thank you Trevor for your many valuable contributions to improving the lives of service users, carers, staff and fellow volunteers.
I have been a member of the Involvment Group for close on 10 years now, and it is with a heavy heart that I must tell you of my retirement from all my voluntary work, effective from April 2021.
As you may know, I have been doing the Carers Roadshows for the past 9 years, last year I produced the Virtual Carers Roadshow, to deal with the effects of the pandemic.
Having received a National Service User’s Award, in 2020, for my work with the Carers Roadshows, things have developed on the National Stage and I am helping Bury Healthwatch, Wiltshire & Summerset Councils to produce a Carers Roadshow in their cities and counties.
It is my intention to produce a Carers Roadshow in every City & County in the UK.
To do this work it will take up a lot of my time, therefore I am retiring from all my voluntary commitments I have with the Trust, as well as another 28 different originations, to allow myself the time to put my energy into this project.
I feel this is the right time to attempt this project, but hard to stop going to the many meetings we have and I will miss the incredibly talented people I have had the honor of working with, over the years.
I been given the opportunity to write this to ensure everyone knows of my intentions throughout the Trust and the reasons why.
Stay Safe Everyone.
My Very Best Wishes,
Trevor Clower – Unpaid Carer
