Remembering a special person.

Back in June we said goodbye to a dearly loved volunteer from the Trust. Glenis had been within the Trust for many years and worked tirelessly for the patients and carers who access our services. Glenis formed strong relationships with staff around the Trust and particularly at Highbury Hospital. The passing of Glenis took everyone by surprise and was felt deeply by all who know her. Everyone wanted a special place where they could remember Glenis and the staff at Highbury thought the Highbury Community Garden would be ideal with her love of nature, particularly flowers.

Glenis

A beautiful climbing Rose was brought and Roy (peer support worker) made two beautiful plaques. On Thursday 30th July staff, volunteers and Glenis’s partner gathered at the garden to remember such a
formidable lady.

These words were kindly spoken:

I find it ironic all this hallabaloo that is being made for Glenis, given that she didn’t like to make a fuss. I can see her now rolling her eyes muttering “What’s this got to do with patients?” However I think we all knew her and respected her, us coming together like this is just a small reminder of what an extraordinary, caring, passionate and kind person she was; all quietly done, but done non the less.

Sleep well Glenis you will always be remembered
