As October comes to a close,
Reflections on Black History
For 31 days Rampton Hospital patients and staff have been celebrating and elevating the contributions of current Black British artists such as Stormzy.
The UK’s first Black History month took place in 1987. It was organised through the leadership of Ghanaian analyst Akyaaba Addai-Sebo who had served as a co-ordinator of special projects for the Greater London Council (GLC) and created a collaboration to get it underway.
Since then people from all backgrounds have recognised and celebrated for 31 days during the month of October that Black history is our history – and Britain has been made all the greater for it. Happy #BlackHistoryMonth everyone
