Thought about volunteering for the NHS?

Here at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NottsHC) we have a fantastic team of dedicated volunteers who complement the work of our paid staff and enhance the experience of patients and carers. They have a huge impact on our services, from supporting staff in doing the little things that make a big difference, to sharing their lived experiences to help improve our organisation and the services we provide.

As well as the difference they make to others, our volunteers often comment on the positive impact being a volunteer has made on their lives. It has helped them to meet new friends, improve their self-confidence and motivation, whilst keeping them active and feeling that they have a valuable contribution to make that is greatly appreciated.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, a variety of different cultures, ethnicities and communities aged between 16 and 95. We are very proud to say that our longest serving volunteer has been with us for over 25 years.

Do you have what it takes to be a NottsHC volunteer and make a difference to patients?

To be a successful volunteer you must want to volunteer for the right reasons, not because someone has told you to do it, or because you would like to use it to enhance personal development and experience. Volunteering certainly has benefits for volunteers, but we’d hope your motivation was about making a difference to other people’s lives.

Please note that if you are looking for work experience, placements, shadowing or any clinical involvement this should be arranged via our Human Resources (HR) department, not through volunteering.

If you can make a regular commitment of your time to volunteer at NottsHC and would like more information on volunteering, including how to apply and our current opportunities, please see our volunteering pages:
